Repair and Retrofit

Building on its experience in studying solutions and repairing equipment, MJ Metriza has developed expertise in repairing and retrofitting dimensional metrology equipment.

Among other equipment, we highlight the following.

04.1 · Form and surface finish

Profilometers

Profilometers are widely used to inspect and study two-dimensional profiles. They consist of a drive unit carrying a measuring arm, with a stylus at its tip.

Moving at a controlled speed, the stylus travels across the surface of the part in the area to be measured or studied.

The resulting profile is displayed in the software, which can then perform calculations and determine distances, angles, intersection points and other elements needed to analyse it.

04.2 · Three-dimensional measurement

Coordinate measuring machines

Coordinate measuring machines measure a part placed within the measuring volume. They are robust and highly precise.

Measurement is made through contact between a probe and the part. The probe moves in three coordinates (X, Y and Z), precisely and unambiguously identifying the coordinates of each contact point.

Repairing and retrofitting these machines often comes down to replacing the control system and the measurement software.

04.3 · Optical measurement

Profile projectors

Profile projectors are widely used for dimensional inspection of small and medium-sized components.

They are used mainly when the image of the part needs to be magnified, so that the details to be inspected can be seen at a size that defines them accurately.

On this type of equipment, a retrofit usually involves replacing the optical system, the measuring table or the two-dimensional control system.
